Welcome and Club Rules

This club is for Christians and members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who are fans of the Legend of Zelda series by Nintendo. This group will focus not only on the games, but also upon the Christian and LDS beliefs, and how symbolism and themes within them are found within the Legend of Zelda games.

We also host work by non-members, for the sake of featuring artwork that reflects the aforementioned focus of this group.

:bulletwhite: Becoming a Member and Rules :bulletwhite:
Joining is non-restricted, although Christian and LDS members are encouraged.
Once someone has joined, respect towards other member's beliefs and views is expected. As this is foremost a fanclub and not a religious club, any extreme, strung out theological discussions/arguments will not be allowed within the blog or front page comments. The comments will be hidden, and the members engaged will be asked to take it somewhere else.
Any sort of harassment or flaming is not tolerated. The comments will be hidden and, if a member is responsible, they will be removed from the club.

:bulletgreen:On Submissions:bulletgreen:
The gallery of this club is meant for Zelda-related art and writing, and only that. There is a cross-over folder, but characters from the Zelda series MUST be present within the picture, or it will not be accepted.
Any excessive, graphic gore is not accepted.
Yaoi and yuri are not accepted, nor is any nudity.
Any picture or piece of writing that is clearly designed to be sexually provocative will not be accepted.
The work you submit must be your own, although bases are allowed.
There are some additional restrictions, but it is unlikely they will ever be enforced. If a picture is denied that does not clearly transgress any of the listed rules, you will be told why.
When it comes to longer, chapter fanfictions, only the first chapter per fanfiction will be allowed to be submitted.
For now, a member may only submit five deviations per day. This rule also holds for long, series comics. This is subject to change.

Did that sound like a lot of rules? I hope not. I want this club to be lots and lots of fun for all it's members! And I know there are a lot of great Christian and LDS Zelda fans out there; don't be shy! Let's get together and make this club an awesome one!

Thanks for that :) We're not always as active as I had hoped, but we aren't dead.

Yay!! I'm so glad to hear that. :)
Also, I know I'm not even in the group, but if you ever need assistance with the group or anything, I'd like to help, if I can! ^~^

Well thank you for the offer! :) The only thing I guess would be ways to engage group members more, if you have any ideas. The only things I know of are contests, but prizes are necessary for that...and I pretty much have got nothing to offer. So if you know of any other thing that works for engaging group members, I'd love to know!

Wait, wouldn't the Legend of Zelda games be, um, blasphemy? Pagan goddesses, fairies, witchcraft and magic, scantily-clad women with swords... The fact that the Twili are good despite being vaguely hellish shadow creatures?

Blasphemy in a broad sense means "insulting or showing contempt or lack of reverence for God, to religious or holy persons or things, or toward something considered sacred or inviolable." Since Christian symbols or ideas are never used in an insulting or clearly irreverent manner in the games, I don't see how the term "blasphemy" really applies here.

As for the other things you mentioned, most of them seem to be fantasy (magic, fairies) and world-building (goddesses as the world deity figures) elements. I know some people do not prefer fantasy at all, and that is fine. I personally have not come across anything in the Zelda games that are problematic morally, but for some other people, fantasy might be problematic. And so I say to each their own, with the assumption that each person chooses his or her entertainment with thoughtful judgment :)

(Though I do agree that the more immodest character designs (which, for most of the Zelda series, is thankfully not the norm) are not preferable.)
